*RUMOR* Nintendo On patent?

The Nintendo On will not die...some of us are happy about that and some are not. Debate has been going on since the day the Nintendo On video hit the net on whether or not the video was real. The video has seen its days of hope and days of defeat. While the back and forth between proving and disproving the validity of the Nintendo On still continues, the guys fighting to prove it is real just stumbled upon something interesting. A patent has been found that pretty much describes the Nintendo On concept perfectly. The visor is there, the interactivity between your physical body, the controller, and the visor is all explained too. It is really eerie how closely this patent resembles the Nintendo On. Pablo Belmonte is the creator of the Nintendo On video, so we were told. While interviews have been conducted, perhaps it is all an elaborate plan formed in the warped minds at Nintendo. Has the whole video game world been duped by Nintendo? Were we shown just how the Revolution works before E3, and then followed Nintendo's plan since? Here I thought there was no life left to breathe into the Nintendo On theory, but here is the biggest lifesaver ever. Thank you VERY much to Kevin from Zogdog.com for filling me in. Check out the two links below...one to the actual patent and the other to the forum discussion of the patent over at ZogDog.

Except the patent is not signed by Nintendo. Anyhow its a laser projection system. ON never had any lasers.

However there is a funny thing over at IBM. They are using a version of this ON box.

Does anybody See Nintendo listed on the patent?

Inventors: Goldman, Ron; (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) ; Dvorkis, Paul; (E. Setauket, NY) ; Katz, Joseph; (Stony Brook, NY) ; Nambudiri, Narayan; (Kings Park, NY) ; Stern, Miklos; (Woodmere, NY) ; Tan, Chinh; (Setauket, NY) ; Wittenberg, Carl; (Water Mill, NY) ; Wood, Frederick F.; (Medford, NY) ; Yavid, Dmitry; (Stony Brook, NY)

However it does briefly say GameCube, Nintendo, GameBoy, or PC gaming application.

Do I think It has anything to do with Revolution? Nope

Nintendo is all about multi-player. The On uses a visor to see the action in a game. I can not bleieve that Nintendo would make a system were multi-player is not a big part of it. Sure everyone could buy their own visor to join in on the fun, but who besides the hardcore, would pay extra for a visor to play mulit-player? This reminds me of Crystal Chronicles (GCN) where 4 GBAs were needed to play the game. Lame.

For some reason, since the begining, I have thought that the Revolution will have a holograph projector. I have nothing to back this up. And from what Nintendo says about a new interface and a new way to play games a holograph projector makes no sense. I am sure that the controller is the revolution and not hoow the game is seen.

we will find out in a few days though.

Wait a second. I enjoyed playing Crystal Chronicles with the game boy controllers. It added to the experience. I didn't have a Gameboy Advance at the time, so I borrowed one from someone from work. But the game had each person paying attention to different obstacles in each level and forced you to work together. And since there was the whole deal with the poison fog the entire group of players were always on the screen at the same time and no one could advance without the others... unless they were already dead.
Four Swords also used that technology and from what I remember it really utilized the gameboys in an intelligent and interesting way. If you are saying that you don't have a gameboy, I'm sure you could still find at least four friends that have one. Afterall, the gameboy is one of the key events in the last 25 years. Wait... If you don't have a gameboy, go out and get one!!

If you check out WILLIAMS, MORGAN & AMERSON, P.C's website, they specialize in patenting technology under their name, perhaps to protect the invention from being leaked...just an idea...

So I guess it is pretty split between people who want the Revolution to have a visor, and people who don't.

I think it would be cool to have the visor and stuff. But I do not see the Revolution doing this or being this.

Remember if Nintendo would go with a visor they would go with a full virtual reality system instead of this halfassed idea.

Nicky Hill, I wasn't trying to bash FF:C.C.. What i was pointing out was that it took every member of the party to own a $100 controller. It made multi-player expensive. I wonder how many people went out and bought a GBA to play that game? Same with Four Swords. Nintendo jsut seems like they want people to watch the game, say it is fun, and I want to play.
I don't think that the visor says that at all. I wasn't trying to bash FF:C.C. or Four Swords at all.
Just my opinion on Nintendo's outlook on multi-player.

I don't mean to be coming down on you either. But still, two of the people playing through it didn't even own Gameboy's, we just borrowed them from other people. I don't think it could be the new system, but as a sort of add on, I think it could work.

One thing that would be cool about Nintendo On, which if it were a thought i would like them to work it into the deal, would be that people with controllers can control the bad guys while the person with the visor is fighting them off. It could work the same way Duck Hunt did with one person on the gun and other people, at least trying to, control the ducks.

Sorry about the other comment. Next time I'll "save it for the game."

That whole go and get one thing... that was more of a marketing statement. It wasn't anything hostile.
Sorry again.
