Animal Crossing DS Details

Some new details on the latest Animal Crossing have turned up, on both the single player and wifi front. All your favorite activities and characters from Animal Crossing on the Cube have returned, with some new ones thrown in. Apparently the game will have more then 1500 items for you to find, buy, and trade. Wireless play will enable you to have 3 other friends to come visit your town, while Wifi play will make be a little different. To play with anyone over the internet, you will have to add them to your friends list. To get friends on your friend list from all over the world, you will have to receive their friend code. To get a friend code you have to register on Nintendo.com, and then trade friend codes via email, messageboards, phone, texting, or any other way of communicating. It gives an interesting twist to the game, and makes it so that you actually have to at least become aquaintences in real life before you can visit a town. How do you guys feel about the way Wifi play will work out? Leave some comments, or chat it up on the boards.

Will Mario Kart be the same way cuz I have no problem with ACDS being that way but Mario Kart would seem a little wierd if you had to contact the people you want to play with before you race them?

hm, i'd rathar see a xbox360Live/battle.net-esc setup that all N-wifi games would incorporate instead of their friend-code based system. will there be an option open games? would rathar have a standadized approach for all games .

I think it is only Animal Crossing that is this way. And I think the reason why is that guests in Animal Crossing can actually do some communication and adjusting to your town.

It would be quite dangerous for Nintendo a family company to allow anyone into the towns.

Now Mario Kart doesn't allow any communication just straight racing...no voice chat or text chat.

So I don't see any problem with them not using this safety system.

For animal crossing, this seems like a good idea. I mean, you don't want just *anyone* walking into your town and digging holes and chopping down trees! Besides, I think by using messageboards like the one here at NintendoNow, it won't take long for us to get a pretty robust list of friends' towns to visit. I can't wait!
