Phil Harrison is an ASS
Sony's Phil Harrison had some lovely comments about Nintendo's fanbase and its DS. Check them out below.
“The idea of a handheld rivalry with Nintendo is an irrelevance,” Those formats don’t appear in our planning. It’s not a fair comparison; not fair on them, I should stress. That sounds arrogant, maybe, but it’s the truth."
“Nintendo knows its target audience, because it has really narrowed that down; and it’s pretty much defined by a boy or girl’s ability to admire Pokémon.
“With the DS, it’s fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen,” But I fear that it won’t have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick – so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that.”
Pretty nice stuff huh?! The only thing I take solace in after reading this, is that the DS is kicking PSP's ass in the market. Double the sales, and double the games...probably more like quadruple the games. I can't wait to see how the PSP fairs in Europe. How can a man be so arrogant as to make these comments while knowing the software department for the PSP is EXTREMELY lacking. I hope Nintendo responds to these comments, I really really do. *By the way, is there someone out there who can find this guy's email address?!*

By "double the sales and double the software" I assume you're referring to Japan...
Because in the United States, it's "half the sales (given the release timeframe) and the same amount of software".

I hate to say this but here in the uk the psp is gonna do realy good as many people here love sony and think its psp is soo cool but once they buy it they will realise soon after that the DS has way better games, the psp has rubbish games only a few good ones. But uk gamers tend to love sony products.
LMFAO this dude just got OWNED
As far as software goes I am talking available titles, and as far as sales go I am talking worldwide. The DS has a lead in total sales over total sales of the PSP in the US. I understand there was a launch factor of 2 or 3 months.
As of Aug 5, the DS had sold 3.4 mil, and the PSP 3.2 mil of software, but recently it has just be announced that PSP sales are severely slowing down. Many websites reported earlier that the PSP was set to outsell the DSin software and hardware, but have now changed their opinions based on the PSP sales as of recent times. Once GTA:LCS comes out it is expected to boost sales of the PSP, and then we will have to see how things go. As far as total hardware sales, as of Aug 5th DS sold 1.8 mil and PSP sold 1.5. Also, I mistyped while typing numbers for the launch period...i meant to say a 4-5 headstart instead of 2-3. Thats what I get for not using the keypad. While the PSP looked to be full steam ahead at first, now things have considerably died down still leaving the DS in the lead. With the release of Nintendogs and an extremely strong release list for games on the DS up through christmas, I expect very good things...and that isnt even factoring in the launch of their Wi-fi network.
I also dont understand how you got your 5 months later, 5 months later release list. If you count From Nov 20th to the end of that month a month, and then count august as being over, that still only gives you 9 months. I get 8 months at the most.
My comments are a irrelevance too, so why bother?
LOL! DS is selling much better than PSP, so dont care what this Nerd says...
Thanks for the soothing words, I was getting a little heated myself! Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean...
