The Two to Three Times More Powerful Debacle

You have all heard it before. The quote that has stuck with us since May's E3. The Revolution will only be two to three times more powerful then the GameCube. This was definately a statement that rocked even the most hardcore Nintendo fans out there. While I would be willing to say that Nintendo fans are more worried about gameplay then graphics, it can still be a little disheartening to hear that Nintendo's new system quite possibly won't be up to snuff graphically with Sony and Microsoft's next consoles. Well I have just found out that that statement may be false, or at least taken out of context. Seems that Perrin Kaplan made that statement when talking to video game journalist Steven Kent when she was pressured for information. What we have to realize here is that Perrin knows and works with Nintendo on the business side of things, she has no training in game development. In other words, when she was pressured to give a figure on how powerful the Revolution is, she gave her own personal rough estimate. Since then it has been supposedly reported that the two to three times more powerful statement is untrue courtesy of IGN. I visit IGN everyday, and I didn't see a confirmation of that being false, but I did see a lot of guessing about it. I may have missed something on IGN, if I did please let me know. The way the story all plays out makes sense, and keep in mind that Mr. Iwata himself said "you will say wow" when you see the Revolution's graphics. The way its going now, I will say wow when I finally hear some new official news from Nintendo about the Revolution!
