*RUMOR* Wednesdayton and NURB

Another big rumor concerning the Revolution for all of you. There is this french article floating around that speaks of the graphical capabilities of Nintendo's mystery system. Apparently it will use NURB technology which stands for NonUniform Rational B-Splines. NURB's are used for creating extremely detailed graphics on a huge scope. Apparently it is much easier to use NURBS to make a detailed image then it is polygons. Also it seems that NURBs are more efficient to boot. This could explain Revolution's small size but big graphics. According to another messageboard, we could be hearing confirmation of this tomorrow. It has been noted that August 24th has been a big day in Nintendo's past. Here are some major announcements that have come on August 24th.

08/24/00 - Nintendo shares GameCube screen shots.
08/24/00 - Nintendo GameCube revealed
08/24/00 - Nintendo GameCube 56K Modem.
08/24/00 - Game Boy Advance revealed.

On top of that, there are some other big things Nintendo that happened in the month of August alone.

08/31/00 - Nintendo talking to top RPG Makers
08/28/00 - Miyamoto talks about PS2 and RPG's.
08/26/00 - Nintendo GameCube 1.5GB 8cm [Mini-DVD] Optical Disc format.
08/11/00 - NOA executive Peter Main talks about Dolphin.

Will tomorrow truly be Wednesdayton? I really, REALLY hope so. We have been patiently waiting for a very long time now, and with the rumors flying on the net that news is coming soon, I am on the edge of my seat. Today is going to be a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG day.

As a user of Maya, a 3d graphics program, I am personally really uncomfortable using NURB's and find them much less straightforward than polygonal modeling and animation. But I don't know, if this announcement is true, maybe I'll see more tutorials into the secrets of NURB's. Though I doubt that Nintendo could discover the secret to making it efficient enough for video games. As far as I can tell, NURB's are really hard to render quickly.

Ah, ramble, ramble, ramble...I don't really know. But if this is true, there really won't be anymore jaggies.
